Five Ways I Make Learning Fun
ReplyDelete1) Enthusiasm in my content
2) Group Activities when it gets to be 'too much'
3)Relaxed atmosphere in the class so we can be silly while we learn
4) Hands on activities
5) Content appropriate games
1. Hands on learning. If the learning is not hands on, finding ways to make it hands on.
ReplyDelete2. Incorporating technology when appropriate
3. Relating the content to students’ likes.
4. Adding movement into the lesson. Getting students up and moving and interacting with the learning material.
5. Allowing students to work together in small groups.
5 ways I make learning fun for my students:
ReplyDelete1. We do lots of art - painting (with fingers, q-tips, paint brushes), dabbing worksheets.
2. Hands on activities.
3. Pick themes to discuss each week that students like.
4. Incorporate games and educational videos on the smartboard. (The kids this year LOVE the smartboard games!)
5. Have toys that the kids enjoy playing with.
I try to make learning fun and engaging for my students in several ways.
ReplyDelete1. I use hands-on learning whenever possible. Allowing students to touch, build, explore, and experiment helps them stay engaged and understand concepts more deeply.
2. I bring enthusiasm and energy into lessons. When students see that I am excited about what we are learning, that excitement often becomes contagious.
3. I try to connect lessons to students’ interests. When learning feels relevant to their lives, hobbies, or curiosities, students are much more motivated to participate.
4. I like to get involved in the lesson alongside my students. Whether that means participating in activities, modeling curiosity, or learning with them, it creates a more collaborative classroom environment.
5. I encourage student collaboration. Working together allows students to share ideas, problem-solve as a team, and learn from each other while building important social skills.
My role as a high school, School Counselor often involves helping students explore academic planning, college and career readiness, and social emotional skills. Because of this, I try to make learning interactive and relevant to their lives. I try to listen, understand and encourage them to follow their dreams while exploring the possibilities their future could hold. It is a very exciting and rewarding experience to be a part of and to watch.
ReplyDeleteOne way I make learning fun is through career exploration activities that allow students to connect their interests to real world opportunities. Instead of simply talking about careers, I have students complete short interest inventories and then explore careers that match those results. Students enjoy discovering possibilities they may not have previously considered, and it helps them see how their strengths can translate into future pathways. It’s amazing to see all of the career possibilities that we don’t even know exist and exciting to see the joy a possible match for them can bring.
Another approach is using real life scenarios and problem-solving activities. When discussing decision making or goal setting, I talk with students with realistic situations they may face in high school or after graduation. With the student we work through the scenario and discuss possible choices and outcomes. This makes the conversation more engaging and helps them apply what they are learning to real situations.
I also incorporate interactive discussions and small group conversations. Rather than only presenting information, I invite students to share their thoughts, experiences, and questions. High school students often respond well when they feel their voice matters, and these discussions can make groups and lessons feel more personal and meaningful.
A fourth way I try to make learning enjoyable is by using activities that allow students to reflect on themselves. Activities focused on strengths, personal values, and future goals can be very engaging because students enjoy talking about their own interests and aspirations. Interest inventory tools often help to explore how the students personal preferences may match their goals. These types of reflections can help students better understand themselves and feel more motivated about their future plans.
Lastly, I try to bring energy and positivity into the learning environment. Even simple things like excitement for the students, encouraging comments, and celebrating student ideas can make a big difference in how students experience a lesson. When students feel comfortable and supported, they are more willing to participate and take part in the learning process.
As a School Counselor, making learning fun is less about entertainment and more about creating experiences that feel relevant, interactive, and supportive. When students feel engaged and connected to what they are learning, they are more likely to take ownership of their goals and see the value in the information being shared.
1. Poster creativity- students love to
ReplyDeleteShow off how creative they can be.
2. Story telling- students love to tell stories about themselves , but they also love to hear my stories
3. Up to date assignments- staying in the know- for example , I do a celebrity mental illness project, where they choose their own celebrity (something they are interested in)
4. Real life scenario games . Roll the die drinking game- teaches them about the realities of consuming alcohol
5. Random games where students come up with the best answer (what do you meme).

ReplyDeleteTK-5th Grade PE:
1. Find new games to play each year, brings new excitement.
2. Bring the Enthusiasm to pump up the class
3. Play fun (appropriate music)
4. Teacher joins in on the games! Kids LOVE this!
5. Teach PE like a coach- it helps that I also coach girls basketball. (i.e.-continuously walking around helping students with specific skills)
1. Read to your students. I read to my 3rd graders every afternoon right before dismissal. They love it, it gives them a break from working, and I am exposing them to various genres and authors.
ReplyDelete2. Allow students to teach one another. Throughout the year I will ask for volunteers to walk the class through step by step how to solve math problems. At the end of the year every student gets to teach the class about something they know how to do. They spend a few weeks researching, creating slides, finding props, and creating worksheets. I have had students teach the class how to cook, make origami, roller skate, play baseball, and multiply.
3. Incorporate short video clips in lessons. I do this in math, reading, grammar, and writing. In math we play a lot of skip counting videos to help with multiplication. In reading we will play a short background video about a place or topic we are reading about that week. In grammar on Mondays we always play a video to teach about the new topic.
4. Take field trips on your own campus. I tour my class around the building throughout the year. I introduce them to various staff members, show them where their office/classroom is and inform them of the job they do for our school.
5. Have friendly competitions where teams of students race to find the answers. I do this with multiplication facts. I also use Kahoot to help them review skills that have been taught.

ReplyDelete1 - Games - I uses games from time to time to make lesson or review fun, such as Kahoot, and Gimkit.
2 - Choices - During some of my lessons, I let students decide on how they demonstrate learning, such as via poster, slideshow, story, etc. This adds fun to lessons.
3 - Connections - I have students interview and interact with individual in the community as a learning activity. Fits really well with my careers unit.
4 - Movement - I get student up and interacting with each other when appropriate, such as gallery walks. Students really like this.
5 - Off Campus Activities - I take students to college and career fairs. Getting out of the classroom is fun for students.
5 ways I make my teaching unique for students:
ReplyDelete1. Hands on learning. I love to bring the learning to life for the students. I used a lot of manipulatives in math, I brought in examples from home for social studies, and I had them make projects for science.
2. Changing up the environment. I loved getting my students out of the classroom for learning. We would take lessons outside, we’d go to the gym, or even just into the hallway. Getting them up and moving and away from the classroom helped build their love of learning.
3. Videos and speakers. I enjoyed bringing in speakers or showing videos to add a real life touch to the lessons.
4. Partner and group work. Having students work together was a fun way to build relationships and encourage teamwork.
5. Various seating options. I gave my students different types of seating to rotate through. This helped my kiddos who likes to move because it gave them something other than a chair.
I am a middle school history and science teacher!
ReplyDelete5 ways I make my teaching unique for students.
1. While we do take some notes in my history classes we always have very fun, engaging conversations about the material that we are covering. I like to relate the material to things that the students deal with on an everyday basis. The students really seem to enjoy these conversations while at the same time learning about history!
2. In my classes we do a lot of small group activities. I believe this helps students grow and learn how to work with each other. When putting them in to groups, I use the wheel of names that helps me select the groups randomly. The students always enjoy this "wheel of unfortune" as they call it, finding out who their partner is this time.
3. Another thing that I like to do is teaching outside when weather allows it. It's not THAT often where it works out but when we can go out and just have conversations about the material or go on "hunts" that work out as labs when learning in science.
4. One thing in History that we do to review for tests is a Review Game. We usually do girls vs boys. One of each comes up front and they flip a coin. Whoever wins the coin flip gets first shot to answer the question, if they get it right its 100 points for there team and they get a chance to shoot a basketball at my mini hoop up in my room for an additional 100 points. if they get it wrong the other person has an opportunity to steal the points. We then do a final jeopardy question where they can wager any amount of points they have as a team. Winners get 1 free bonus point on the test.
5. Another thing in history that I do is add fun videos into my note taking. Adding a short, interesting video relating to the material learned is a good way to keep my students attention and help them continue to gain understanding into the material. I also watch videos like generation genius, bill nye and even some magic school bus videos that are connected to the content learned. We will also add in Kahoot's to add to the fun of learning!
